Dear Official,
I'm writing to you about your community's negotiations with Appalachian Power over the Public Authority Tariff. Concerned citizens reached out about getting our communities a fair deal earlier this year. These negotiations will determine the rates our municipalities and schools pay for electricity. They will also determine their ability to install solar. The current contract imposes unfair limits on solar energy. These go above and beyond limitations in the law. It stops schools and governments from saving taxpayer dollars spent on utility bills. Please ensure that contract negotiations with Appalachian Power remove these limits. You can do so by sending a letter to the Public Authority Tariff Steering Committee leaders. I invite you to customize the letter for your municipality. The draft letter is below. It is also available as a Google Document here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lAbJnsKGU6Hv-al2Y8h3258feQ9-jQ680Lz-h6Gg41w/edit?usp=sharing And, a Word Document here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CG4N2lnhzGpz6_fmxJX8cr5Fz9Z0v_go/view?usp=sharing The coronavirus pandemic puts local governments and schools under increased financial pressure. We can use solar's savings to strengthen our community. Thank you for reading my letter. I appreciate your time.
